In compute clouds, such as Amazon, each virtual machine may consist of a set of resources (template, disk space and CPU resources, ip-address, the backup storage, etc.). In big server farms, where at the same time around a thousand VM’s revolve, it is impossible to track clearly by regular means of cloud-provider - which resources are used and for what, which in turn leads to uncontrolled costs.
